Ron Hershco has also made a donation to Chabad of Oceanside. The building that he originally located to occupy the space on 3700 Oceanside received damage from Hurricane Sandy and at the same time is supporting the community by giving relief packages and counseling.

Queens School Development

As a developer you have to be conscious of where you will build a site and the impact on the community. That’s what happened in Rockaway, Queens. Ron had consulted the principal of Public School 43 Rockaway, Queens, John M. Quattrocchi about building on the site.

The principal mentioned that he needed another building for the students and Ron’s response was “Okay, I’ll build it.” The annex was built at the company’s expense and now houses 200 students.

Ron’s decision to help the school was based on the fact the area was becoming over-crowded and he didn’t understand the concept of students being taught in trailers. And since the neighborhood was booming, he couldn’t figure out how the schools were going to support the families of what was becoming a growing community.

Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation

Ron donated a building to Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, a charity founded by Russell Simmons. Along with donating the building Ron helped develop the site. The building is now used for arts education for disadvantaged youth in the Brooklyn area.
