TowerJazz, the global specialty foundry leader, today announced that its Israeli lender banks have extended its existing loans’ maturity dates, and now 2013 and 2014 principal payments will be reduced from $105 million to $30 million. The outstanding loan of $131 million which was originally set to be paid starting September 2013 will be payable in 10 quarterly installments.



A new survey conducted by business information company BDI says half of Israeli contractors expecting no change in real estate pricing. 40% of Israeli contractors expect housing prices to increase in 2013,  51% expect Israel real estate house prices will remain flat and 9 % expect a decline in prices.

I am blessed to sit on a number of non-profit boards but no charity work is as rewarding as those which help children. Whether it is an organization like RAJE (Russian-American Jewish Experience) which teaches kids about Judaism, or Kars for Kids whose radio ads air constantly, there are hundreds of thousands of charities which help kids.

JELVIS, the Jewish Elvis is hosting a Purim event on Thursday, March 20th at The Cutting Room in Manhattan. Purim is a holiday which commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the Persian Empire from destruction at the hands of the evil Haman.  Haman planned to kill every Jew under his watch, but Mordechai and Queen Esther saved the day. The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing.



M.G.M. International Publications Ltd., the leading English language publisher of digital and electronic information on Israeli public companies and securities recently completed the first ever Israeli digital directory on real estate companies.  MGM plans to offer other industry-specific publications soon.



Summit Real Estate Holdings Ltd completed last week the acquisition of a portfolio of 25 buildings in 12 locations. Summit is a publicly traded entity on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Summit’s portfolio consists of floor space of approximately 170,000 sqm., generating an average annual net income, after maintenance costs, of approximately EUR 14 million.



A $50 million penthouse is on sale in Tel Aviv in a new building, The Meier-on-Rothschild a 42-story tower, located at 36 Rothschild Boulevard, and is slated to open in early 2014. The building’s nickname is The Palace in the Sky, and the $50 Million gem is on the 38th and 39th floors.



There will be an investment conference held on March 12th at the David InterContinental Hotel in Tel Aviv. The conference provides a venue for the investment decision makers of insurance firms, provident funds, pension funds, continuing education funds, mutual funds, banks, large companies and other nostro managers to discuss current trends in the financial industry.

Bank Leumi USA is moving their New York headquarters to 579 Fifth Avenue from Lexington Avenue.  The bank recently inked a signed a 20-year, 60,000-square-foot lease and is taking the second, third, fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the property.

The Bank Of Israel announced that they would keep the current interest rate at 1.75 percent, as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for February remained unchanged. Inflation expectations for the next twelve months calculated from the capital markets (breakeven inflation), seasonally adjusted, remained stable at 2 percent.



NON-RESIDENTS: Investments in government bonds in Israel, and sales of makam

Bonds and makam: In February, nonresidents invested around $300 million net in unlinked government bonds, and sold around $50 million net in makam. Preliminary figures for March indicate net sales of about $360 million in government bonds and of about $90 million in makam.


The largest domestic airline in Israel, Arkia Israeli Airlines has announced a partnership with Discover the World Marketing to market Arkia in Finland, Germany, Norway and Spain.
